Evan is a Research Engineer at BCAP assisting with technical investment diligence and supporting the firm's infrastructure build out. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Principal AI Engineer at Sindri, where he built and optimized large-scale zero-knowledge proving systems and launched one of the first private AI inference services to run in GPU trusted execution environments. Earlier in his career, he was Chief AI Officer at TenantBase and the founder of Intoli, where he built widely used open-source developer tools.
Evan earned his Ph.D. in high-energy nuclear physics from UC Davis, where he pioneered the use of unsupervised machine learning for particle identification. His thesis won the RHIC & AGS Thesis Award. As a researcher at Berkeley Lab and the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, he invented a new class of statistical moments and co-led the first Bayesian inference of the nuclear equation of state from heavy-ion collision data.
In his free time, he writes classical piano music and trains neural networks to play card games.
